PCF to Host Patient, Survivor and Supporter Breakfast as Part of the Advance on Washington for Prostate Cancer

Celebrities, sports icons and special guests to attend September 14 event

Santa Monica, CA, August 18, 2010 —– The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) invites patients, survivors and prostate cancer supporters to attend a breakfast on September 14, 2010 at 8:45 a.m. in the Courtyard of The Washington Hilton. The event, designed to celebrate progress and survivorship, is being offered free of charge to the first 250 registrants. It is part of the upcoming Advance on Washington: Pushing for Progress in Prostate Cancer week in Washington, D.C., September 13 – 18, 2010.

PCF’s vice president of communications and recently diagnosed prostate cancer patient, Dan Zenka, will be the emcee for the breakfast. Special guests will include survivor and R&B performer Charlie Wilson, former lead singer for The Gap Band. Wilson, who received two 2010 Grammy nominations for his solo work, will perform the National Anthem. Jean Fogelberg, wife of music legend Dan Fogelberg, who died as a result of prostate cancer, and Reverend Rosey Grier of the NFL’s famed Fearsome Foursome will also be featured as part of the program.

“Four of the leading prostate cancer organizations will be holding meetings and events in our Nation’s Capitol as part of an orchestrated Advance on Washington for prostate cancer,” said Dan Zenka. “These events will focus on advances in scientific research, advocacy and awareness. At PCF, we felt it was only appropriate to sponsor an event that focuses on patients and their families—the ones to whom all of our work is dedicated.”

Registration is limited to the first 250 registrants and all attendees must wear blue to be admitted. To register, go to: www.pcf.org/breakfast.
