Discovery of Inhibitors of PCa-related Epigenetic Changes
- Created a system to determine the molecular mechanisms that control chromosomal rearrangements (erroneous shuffling of the DNA) which result in gene fusions that are common in prostate cancer.
- Discovered the role of the androgen receptor (a protein that promotes prostate cancer cell growth and survival) and hypoxia (low oxygen levels) in causing the generation of these gene fusions.
- An automated technology (DASL) was developed to discover new medicines that prevent the formation of gene fusions.
