Endowed Chair Faculty Position in Prostate Cancer Research
Department of Cancer Biology, Lerner Research Institute and Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute
The Department of Cancer Biology and the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute are seeking a senior level (Associate/Full Professor) cancer biologist with a focus in prostate cancer and with strong translational interests. The position provides an exceptional opportunity to translate basic discoveries to the clinic through collaborative interactions with outstanding clinical programs.
The Department of Cancer Biology currently has 8 primary Faculty actively involved in basic and translational research programs investigating cancers of the brain, colon/rectum, kidney, and prostate, as well as hematologic malignancies. Research foci include cell signaling, DNA damage and repair, tumor suppressor genes, new targets, histone modification, cell cycle control, developmental therapeutics, drug resistance, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, and the innate defense against viruses and cancer. The LRI offers over twenty Clinic-subsidized Core services including the Animal Tumor Core, Mass Spectrometry, Imaging and Confocal Microscopy, Genomics, and the Small Molecule Screening Core, allowing access to the latest state-of-the art equipment.
The Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute offers one of the world’s premier urological practices and has a strong history of collaboration with and support for scientists in the Lerner Research Institute. Institute physicians see more than 1000 new prostate cancer patients a year and are supported by expert pathologists with an extensive pathological tissue archive, a proactive tumor procurement service, and clinical databases with long-term patient follow-up data.
To be considered, applicants must have ongoing grant support and an accomplished research program in some aspect of prostate cancer biology. The successful applicant will be supported by an Endowed Chair, generous start-up funds, and joint appointment in Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Institute (part of the NCI designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center) and Lerner College of Medicine.
Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, summary of research interests, and three references, via e-mail to: Eric Klein kleine@ccf.org
