PCF-Funded Young Investigator Awarded by University for Exemplary Research Progress Made in Prostate Cancer

August 10, 2012 -- 2010 LeFrak Family PCF Young Investigator Dr. Himisha Beltran, assistant professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, was honored by the institution with The 21st Annual Department of Medicine Investigator Award. The distinction is awarded to members of the Department of Medicine, below the rank of professor, who perform on an outstanding level in the areas of clinical and, or, basic biomedical research.

Beltran was recognized specifically for her research expertise in prostate cancer, including her understanding of disease heterogeneity in advanced prostate cancer, as well as the identification of new drug targets used in next generation DNA sequencing.

“We are pleased to see this recognition for Dr. Beltran, a very talented PCF-funded Young Investigator,” said Dr. Soule, chief science officer and executive vice president of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. “Her outstanding work is already benefiting patients with advanced prostate cancer. Our foundation is also thankful for the outstanding mentorship at WCMC provided to Dr. Beltran by Drs. Mark Rubin and David Nanus.”
