About Becky L
My father has been my hero since I was a kid. He is the most selfless, generous, kind-hearted, patient man in the world. He has been fighting prostate cancer since the summer of 2012. This last year, his cancer has become aggressive and taken over his body. The holidays have been incredibly tough this year, as we have dealt with many ups and downs. He went from a full time professor to home-bound, to needing full-time care in a matter of months. I have helped him with getting everything in order as well as just trying to be his cheerleader and remind him that he is still strong, independent, and loved by so many. My brothers and I are working hard to remind him that his current limitations do not define him or change his legacy. Watching my father’s cancer progress and being his primary caregiver and his daughter all at once has been incredibly exhausting; however, I would do it 10,000 times over again because he deserves the world. I continue to tell myself that I am capable of hard things, because he raised me to be strong. He currently continues to fight through his cancer progression and his pain like a champion. He is my favorite human and will forever be a superhero.
