In memory of Anthony Sebastian Dente

Anthony (Tony) Sebastian Dente was born July 17, 1938 in Priolo, Sicily. He was the first child of Giuseppe and Caterina (Mannira) Dente. In 1951, his father emigrated to Canada to find a better life for his family. In 1953, Caterina and her four children left on a ship to join him in Toronto, where Tony learned English at night school. He worked for Dominion Stores, and became an accountant. He then went to work for Glidden Paint Company.

On April 24, 1965, Tony married his true love, Beverley, at Saint Pious Catholic Church. They honeymooned in Italy, and then moved there exactly one year later. They lived in Milano for six years, where in 1968 they welcomed their daughter and in 1971, their son. In 1972, Tony was transferred to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1976, they moved to Springfield, Massachusetts. In 1977, he chose to pursue his dream and moved his family to San Diego, where they bought their home in Solana Beach.

In 1982, he started M & A Capital, Inc., a mergers and acquisitions company, where he worked hard to achieve the life and success he desired. Through M & A, Tony and Beverley were able to travel the world, something they both loved. Nothing excited him more than working on and closing a deal.

At the age of 61, he discovered he had metastatic prostate cancer. He pursued every treatment available to him, continuing to live life to the fullest with great quality. He fought with much dignity and bravery in order to share his life with the family he loved so deeply. On February 7, 2015, Tony took his last breath at home, surrounded by his wife, daughter, son and three granddaughters.

Tony was a fantastic dancer and enjoyed fishing. He loved to ski and play soccer, squash, tennis, and live an active life. He enjoyed poker, bridge, scopa, good food, and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beverley; his devoted children Linda Jauregui (Jim) and son Kevin (Kathi); nine adoring granddaughters, Megan (Paul), Sierra Jauregui, Karly Jauregui, Julia Jauregui, Lexie Jauregui, Jamie Jauregui, Janna Jauregui, Mira Dente, Tessa Dente; 2 great- grandsons, Anthony and Vincent Eccles; four siblings, Dominic, Claudio (Judy), Tino (Janette) , Mary (Gary) Crombie; nieces and nephews, Joanna, Carl, Riccardo, Nicole, Paul, Diana, Christina and Drew; his Uncle Andrea (Lily) Mannira; cousins Dominic, Tino and Susie (Ray). He had many friends and touched all that he met. There will be a huge hole in our lives, but we know he will forever watch over us and we will continue to live life with the passion that he shared with us. Ciao, ciao, ti amo.

Thank you to his medical care team, especially Doctor Richard Lam, Doctor Michael Kosty and the amazing nurses.
