Belur V. Keshavan, 78, of Centreville, VA, passed away Monday December 16, 2013, peacefully in his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Bangalore, India, on June 24, 1935. Belur obtained his BS in Mathematics from The University of Mysore in 1952 and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in 1956. He came to the United States in 1958 to pursue higher education opportunities. He received an MS in Electrical Engineering in 1960 and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1962 from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He received an MBA from the University of Vermont in 1982.
Belur lived in Colchester, VT, for many years, where he raised his family. He worked for IBM in Essex Junction, VT, before relocating to Centreville, VA, where he was employed by the U.S. Patent and Trade offices until his retirement. Belur was active in his local community and a member of the Mormon Church. He enjoyed the fine arts, the theater and classical music. He loved to travel and made many trips with good friends. Belur was a loving father and a kind soul and will be forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Belur is survived by his children Amy Keshavan Puglise, her husband John and their daughter Jaya of Underhill, VT; John Keshavan and his wife Katherine of Hamilton, NY; and Peter Keshavan. He is also is survived by a special friend, Evelyn Wakefield.
