In memory of Patrick McCartney

Patrick McCartney was one of the most kind, loving and giving men there ever was. Family always came first for him, and he taught his children the meaning of selfless love, hard work, and what it means to be an amazing parent.

Patrick passed away on November 29th, 2013 — almost exactly one year from finding out that he had prostate cancer. He was only 58 years old. Patrick most likely had prostate cancer for years before it was finally detected in November of 2012. I know that he would want to spread the word about how important early detection is in fighting his awful disease. Yearly prostate checks are crucial in having the upper hand to fight this particular type of cancer.

Patrick was a truly talented and amazing artist and a dedicated educator. His love of literature and the arts was so inspiring that his children always knew that reaching for their dreams was never impossible. His smile could light up a room and his laugh was infectious to all that met him. He was never a stranger to anyone for long, and he spread love, hope, and joy wherever he went. He is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

Cancer takes away everything a person is and steals their vitality. I hope and pray that my dad’s story and others like it will help in finding a cure for this terrible disease. God bless those fighting to find a cure and dedicating their life to making sure that prostate cancer doesn’t win. To make a donation in Patrick’s name, please fill out the form below. Funding research to save others from this terrible disease is admirable and I thank you with all that I am for your generosity. The Lord bless and keep you.
