Legal Counsel

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Finance, the PCF Legal Counsel will provide legal and other consulting services as related to specific project assigned by PCF executive leadership.  PCF’s legal needs are focused in the areas of non-profit management, philanthropy, and bio-technology projects and partnerships.  This role will be expected to contribute at approximately .25 FTE and be engaged with PCF through a consulting agreement or part-time employment dependent upon the candidate.   This is a remote position.


Key Duties of the Legal Counsel  will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Attend senior management meetings as requested.
  • Provide legal counsel as needed in a responsive, dependable manner.
  • Provide routine status updates and offer legal, ethical solutions to PCF executive leadership.
  • Provide proactive and strategic attention to PCF operations to address and minimize legal risks as they arise, i.e. human resources, attorney general office calls, vendor and partnership agreements, projects and programs reviews, and other similar operational events.
  • Attend quarterly Board of Directors meetings and assist with minute preparation as requested by PCF’s Secretary and other Board officers and members.
  • Provide strategic thinking, planning, and implementation on assigned and unassigned topics.
  • Implement and administer an annual compliance calendar and associated structures, and stay informed on matters relevant to PCF’s mission and operations.
  • Other legal duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Law-related field.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and proofreading skills.


Position type and expected hours of work:
Approximately 25% FTE, typically between 8am and 5pm PST, five days a week, with evening and weekend hours as dictated by position responsibilities.
