Sharing the Importance of Early Detection
On “Friends,” I played Gunther, the sarcastic manager of Central Perk, for 10 years. But I was unable to attend the HBO Max “Friends” reunion in person because privately I've been battling a serious health issue. I am navigating metastatic prostate cancer.
Although I initially responded exceedingly-well to treatment, my cancer has become increasingly aggressive in the last year. My wife, Jennifer Carno, and I are now working with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to raise awareness about the importance of early detection while also funding critical prostate cancer research.
My goal in sharing my experience is to help PCF save more men’s lives. I am deeply grateful to Jennifer for supporting me on this journey. Together, we are encouraging everyone with a prostate to know your risk and talk to your doctor about screening. It starts with a simple blood test.
