Let’s Have a Tasty Thanksgiving!

Let’s Have a Tasty Thanksgiving!

To coin a phrase, “It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year!” The holidays are upon us. And that means good will, cheer and most of all, lots and lots of great food! But it can also mean many foods that aren’t necessarily the healthiest choices. So, I went to our website at https://www.pcf.org/ and looked up “holiday recipes.” After going through all the recipes, here are a few of my favorite recipes for Thanksgiving that will cut down on some of the bad fat AND leave in the good stuff.

APPETIZER:

Spinach and Artichoke Dip – to me, there is no better appetizer to start ANY meal, especially on cold, November days than with warm dip and crackers.

SIDE DISH:

Olive oil, sea salt and chive mashed potatoes – mashed potatoes are the best and they make the base of a pretty good post-Thanksgiving sandwich

MAIN COURSE:

Roast Turkey – what would Thanksgiving be without a turkey? Of course, if the pilgrims had landed on the West Coast, we’d all be eating sushi… But, that’s another story.

DESSERT:

Gingerbread Cake with Sautéed Pears – pumpkin pie is the Thanksgiving tradition, but mmmmm, this is so good.

On our website at the Prostate Cancer Foundation, you can find all sorts of recipes for healthy hors d’oeuvres, great side dishes and complete meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s Eve, and beyond.

Now that I have chosen some dishes, I’m off to make them and put together a great meal for friends and other supporters of PCF. And I want to know: What’s YOUR Thanksgiving four course meal? Check out our recipe page and share your ideas with us on our Facebook page!
