About Robert F.

Diagnosed with aggressive Gleason Score 9 Cancer. Never been sick and the leading dog of the family. Hit everyone like a ton of bricks. Fortunately we could have surgery. Even so this has been a life-changing action hitting everyone in the family and there are no guarantees we have solved the problem or that the cancer may not come back. During the past few months the family (every single one of them!) has been there! Wife….holding my hand letting me know she loves me no matter what. Son….took time off from his police detective job in Alabama to spend 5 days back home to hold his mommie’s hand and give me strength. Daughter…spent many hours keeping Mommie level and attended pre-surgery meetings with me. Granddaughter (senior at Oregon State) came home to be with me on day of surgery and to hold Mommie’s hand. Other Granddaughter, sophomore in high school came in to see me nearly every day to tell me everything would be OK…….also attended final pre-surgery meeting with me. I must say it was really funny to watch her understand how a catheter would work! On the surgery day they were all at the hospital supporting me. And several days thereafter, I never felt alone. I must say with this kind of family I was and still am motivated to be there for them…………………………………regardless. Thankfully, the great team at OHSU and my family have given me a new start for life. For that I am humbled and thankful.
