When should you start?
By age 45 for most men
By age 40 if you are:
- Black (African American), or
- Have relatives with prostate, breast, pancreatic, ovarian, or colon cancer on either side of your family
What does screening involve?
Just a simple PSA blood test — quick and easy.
How do you get it?
Ask your primary care doctor or urologist for a PSA test.
What does it cost?
Many insurance plans cover it.
If not, ask about the cash price. It usually costs $50–$70.

Check with:

- Community health centers
- Free clinics
- Health fairs
If your doctor says you don’t need it
It’s okay to speak up. You can say:
“It’s a simple blood test.”
“I’d like to be proactive and get screened.”
