In Memoriam: Stein Erik Hagen

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) grieves the loss of beloved emeritus Board member Stein Erik Hagen, who passed away on May 4, 2026, at the age of 69. A visionary businessman, philanthropist, and cherished friend of PCF, Stein Erik’s generosity and commitment drove innovations that continue to help save and extend lives.
A prostate cancer survivor himself, Stein Erik spoke openly about his diagnosis, urging other men to seek regular screenings. He served on PCF’s Board from October 2016 through May 2024 and contributed nearly $11 million to PCF, funding multi-year Challenge Awards that produced key insights in PSMA radioligand therapy, novel treatment combinations, and molecular and clinical strategies to combat prostate cancer morbidity.
Above all, Stein Erik was warm, engaging, and intellectually rigorous in his commitment to transformative philanthropy. We at the Prostate Cancer Foundation miss him and extend our deepest condolences to his children, his husband Bendik Skinningsrud, and all who loved him.
