PCF-VA Nursing 2021-2022 Registration

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are accepting applicants for the PCF-VA 2021-2022 New Big Data Nurse of the Future Program’s Virtual Cancer Genetic (VCG) Nurse Training Fellowship

Deadline to Register: August 27, 2021

Start of 2021-2022 Course: September 3, 2021

During this program, fellows will learn the basic practice of cancer risk evaluation. The objectives and goals are: 1) Provide an introduction to clinical genetics focused on cancer genetics; 2) Provide background allowing the participant the skills to apply and participate in more intense courses or training in cancer genetics; 3) Increase exposure of the VA nursing community to the practice of cancer genetics risk assessment. Continuing Education Units are pending for this program.

The course will bring together multi-disciplinary experts in nursing, clinical genetics and medical oncology through hour-long monthly educational sessions and monthly case-based clinical case conferences that will culminate in new opportunities in the VA cancer genetic services workforce and the delivery of precision oncology care. Please set aside at least two hours/month for this fellowship.  Case-based educational sessions will be held every First Tuesday of the month at 1:00 PM PT/ 3:00 PM CT/ 4:00 PM ET. Operational sessions will be held every Second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 PM PT/ 3:00 PM CT/ 4:00 PM ET.  The requirements to participate in the fellowship opportunity are a VA affiliation.
