My grandpa Jerry is one of the most important men in my life. He has always been a strong, hardworking & inspiring man. I can’t even give words to how much I love him. It’s been 10 years since he was diagnosed with prostate cancer & we thank god everyday that he is still here with us. My grandma and mom did a lot of the care taking- in the hospital and out. I really observed a lot of this and only had a hand in helping when asked (I was about to be a high school senior). Holding my grandpas hand and seeing him cry for the first time in my life was a pivotal moment for me. My strong grandpa was feeling broken. But with the love and support of the doctors and nurses at the hospital and care from my grandma and many family members- he survived. He is in his early 70’s now and still strong, hardworking & inspirational. He is the bridge that holds my family together and he is a prostate cancer survivor.
