About Dan P.

I was diagnosed stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer Sept 2019. I have had radiation and ADT (lupron and abiraterone) since then. Radiation was hard but ADT has been effective. Five months later (January 23, 2020) I had a ischemic stroke in the right vertebral artery of my brain stem. Recovery took 4.5 months during Covid19. Through all that, my wife provided (and continues) life sustaining care and nurture, both physically and emotionally. My bone pain is the worst part these past 6 months. She faithfully rubs my back/bones with ointment anytime I need it. She helps with my daily exercise therapy (walking 6-7 miles per day) by walking some with me. I couldn’t have made it this far without her. My oncologist told me in last visit that I could have died twice, encouraging me to keep my aggressive approach. I truly couldn’t do it without her. I would have given up many times. We’ve been married 45 years and she lives out ‘in sickness and in health’ commitment in her care for me. I am a lucky and blessed man.
