About Steve C.

My wife Rima Cooper has been by my side every day since we meet, which was in the middle of my treatments for stage 4 prostate cancer. Rima and I met soon after I finished radiation and had moved to Las Vegas for a fresh start on life. However, after living in Las Vegas for just a short time, a prominent oncologist recommended I undergo chemotherapy. Since all of my doctors were in Phoenix, I decided to move back to undergo chemotherapy. While working a very demanding full-time job, Rima never missed my chemo sessions. I exercised a lot during treatments. In fact, I became the first person to complete an Ironman triathlon during radiation and then during chemotherapy I would run marathons *on* chemo days and Rima would support me throughout the entire journey. When I would end up in the hospital with infections, Rima would drive all night so that I wouldn’t be in the hospital alone. But the one thing I will never forget about Rima is that during chemotherapy I decided to do an Ironman. After swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and running 13.1 miles, with 13.1 more miles to go, I was completely exhausted. Rima, who is not a runner, dropped everything, and ran the last 13.1 miles with me so that I could become the first person to complete an Ironman during radiation and also during chemotherapy, but more importantly, to be by my side not as we made history, but just to be by my side. With every minute of life being so precious, I am so grateful that I was able to meet and marry the most amazing woman on earth whom I admire with all of my heart. Thank you.
