Understanding Prostate Cancer
New York Magazine’s List of Best Doctors Includes Many Prostate Cancer Foundation Funded Researchers
Each year Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a research organization based in New York City, publishes their guide, titled “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area.” The guide includes some 6,000 physicians in the region that have been selected by their peers as the crème de la crème of delivery of medical care.
The New York Magazine list is not comprehensive--due to space constraints the magazine only publishes about 1,000 of Connolly’s total list. And even the whole of Connolly’s list is adjusted so all medical specialties and New York metro geographical regions can be included. That means, because New York City is a best-doc magnet, some Manhattan doctors who made the list were not selected by Connolly for publication so that people who live outside of Manhattan can know the best docs in their communities. And because some specialty areas—yes think urology—have more practicing doctors than say, geriatric psychiatry, the list may further thin out top docs in highly populated medical specialty areas of medical practice.
All that said, it’s tons of fun to browse the New York Magazine list for a who’s who in 2013! The Prostate Cancer Foundation sends our hearty congratulations!
